Now, there are other games that do some of these with varied success but SR 2 is the only game to have all of these features and do them well. 2, Dishonored 2, The Americans, The Last Jedi, Blade Runner 2049, biases in. point is, the world felt alive! Not to mention that people would either taunt you or compliment you depending on if you control the territory or not and the fact that peds comment on the games current events. Sometimes you would go into a store only for it to be robbed by someone else, maybe a woman is streaking with on lookers giving her a thumbs up, perhaps you encounter a barbershop quartet( and blow them up with a sticky bomb), and there are mundane things like people moving laundry, browsing their laptops, etc. Not to mention if you leave your character idle, they might go off and do something random like smoke, go fishing, etc.ĭon't forget one of the best parts of stilwater: true random events. The interactivity was great for it's time too! You can car surf, mug people, rob stores, go streaking, do drive bys on other gangs, and hunt for hidden areas. You had buyable apartments which were all different and upgradeable.
The areas were varied, you had crack head, crime ridden neighborhoods, suburbs, trailer parks, beaches, malls, high end strip malls, casinos(which you can enter!) and an airport. This may be a controversial claim but SR 2 stilwater is the best open world in it's Genre.
